Here are some other interesting sites about Woods Hole you should check out:

The site I chose is Woods Hole Historical Museum. The URL or Universal Resource Locator is http://www.woodsholemuseum.org/ . Unfortunately, there is no date when it was created and it doesn’t give any dates it was revision dates. I have visited the site in the past. My children enjoy going to Woods Hole, I last visited the site on June 7, 2006.

The site has a medium blue background, a write up on how the Museum is a private, non-profit organization, which is open to the public with free admission. There is a historical picture taken at Woods Hole with the name of the photographer. The picture has a few small boats, a dock, and it is in black and white. At the top of the page is the name of the organization. On the left side of the page is a menu bar with many links to different pages in the site. Where ever you go you always can get back to the home page.

In my option this site has a very clear presentation and identification of the institution which it is from. The site has an abundance of information, just to name a few there is the Schedule tab which tells you times of conventions and when the different Museums open for the season and what there hours of operation are. One can get directions to the Museum; one can even browse the gift shop and place orders. There are Historical pictures with many black and white pictures. The archives have information on General collection. Photograph collection with links to sites containing information and more pictures of Historical Woods Hole dating back to the early 1850’s. There is a contact number where you can call or fax the organization, you may also contact by e-mail. As one visits each of the sites in the menu there are links to lead to more information about the facility without loosing the home page there is always access to the other items in the menu bar. One is always returned to the home page when a page is closed. Navigation is very simple where the inexperienced would have no problem visiting the site. The self explaining the information on the pages are not overwhelming. As far as the graphics are concerned they are quite simple, they do not take away from the page, it is very welcoming. The menu on the left site of the page directs to all sections of the site along with the site name on the top of every page. Each of the pages has a graphic identity which tells the heading of each.

In conclusion I feel the site needs to improve on a few key components which include the fact that the creators name is not included yes the Institutes name is there but not the creators. Also there is no date on when it was created or revised. Otherwise I think the site was well organized, and has plenty of informative information. It was pleasant to look at and was user friendly. In my option I think there was a lot of thought put into this site.
